Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Next Step Guyana is operated by its founders for students in Guyana. For privacy questions, use the contact details published on the site when available, or reach the team through the channels listed on the About page.
2. Information we may collect
- Account details you choose to provide, such as name, email, phone number, school, form level, or region.
- Profile and pathway answers from self-check, onboarding, or pathway tools.
- Usage data such as pages visited, device type, and approximate region, if analytics are enabled.
- Messages you send to mentors, admins, or support channels.
- Staff account activity for mentors and admins managing content.
We do not ask for payment card details on the current student prototype. If paid features are added later, this policy will be updated before those features go live.
3. How we use information
- To run the site and show relevant pathways, sessions, and opportunities.
- To match students with mentors, sessions, or guidance when that feature is active.
- To improve content accuracy and fix problems.
- To communicate about sessions, account issues, or safety concerns.
- To protect the service against abuse.
4. Sharing
We do not sell student data. We may share information only when needed to:
- Operate hosting, email, or analytics providers that process data on our instructions.
- Allow a mentor or admin to respond to a question you posted or a session you joined.
- Comply with law, school safeguarding requirements, or a valid legal request.
- Protect a person from serious harm.
5. Children and students
The service is built for secondary-school students. If you are under 18, use the site with a parent, guardian, or school staff member’s guidance where required. Do not post private contact details in public feed posts.
6. Cookies and local storage
The site may store small amounts of data in your browser (for example sign-in session state or staff content drafts) so features keep working on your device. You can clear this data in your browser settings.
7. Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law or for safety records. Prototype demos may reset or store data only in your browser until a production database is connected.
8. Your choices
- Ask what personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate details.
- Ask us to delete an account or public post you control, subject to safety and legal limits.
- Stop using the site and clear local browser data at any time.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no website is perfectly secure. Avoid reusing passwords, and do not share login details.
10. Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date above and post the revised page on the site before or when the change takes effect.
11. Contact
Privacy questions: use the Contact option on the homepage when live contact details are published, or email the address listed on the official Next Step Guyana domain once it is connected.
